Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

ono ("we," "us," or "the app") is a food-discovery app for Hawaiʻi. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain because privacy shouldn't require a law degree.

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with third-party advertising or data networks, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Restaurants may pay us for featured placement inside ono. Where they do, we may share aggregate statistics about how their restaurant performed — for example, how many people saw it, opened its page, tapped for directions, or checked in. These reports are counts only. They never include your name, username, email, photos, location, or your individual activity, and a restaurant cannot use them to identify or contact you.

Content other people can see

ono is partly social. Your display name, username, avatar, the photos and tips you post, and your public activity (such as follows and contributions) may be visible to other users. Photos you upload are stored in a publicly accessible location so they can be shown in the app. Please don't upload anything you wouldn't want to be public.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate ono. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments:

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your profile and delete your logged visits and progress. Some records may persist briefly in backups or where we're required to retain them by law.

Your choices and rights

Children's privacy

ono is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app.
